Windows installer
1 - Install:
Windows XPDownload the file above and save to your desktop. Double-click to install. Accept all of the questions that pop up. After it has installed, follow the steps below under 'Connecting'. Windows Vista and Windows 7Download the file above and save to your desktop. Right-click and select 'Run as Administrator' to install. Accept all of the questions that pop up. Enter 'openvpn-gui-1.0.3.exe' in the search bar under the Start menu (you can cut and paste from here) Right-click on the file that it finds and select 'Properties'. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab. Check '"Run this program as an administrator' (this step is important. be sure the box is checked). Click 'OK' |
2 - Connecting:
Double-click on the desktop icon named 'OpenVPN GUI'
A new icon will appear in the lower, right-hand task bar. Right-click on the icon and select '"personalvpn'

A window will pop up and ask for your user name and password. Enter them now.

After the connection is made, the windows will close and you will be connected. When you are connected, the task bar icon will turn from red to green.
You can now open your browser and be on the secure VPN tunnel. Web sites will be unblocked and your data will not be visible to the local ISP or others at wireless hotspots or other public locations.
A second option 'personalvpn-tcp' is also available (see screenshot above on this page) Use this if you have problems connecting with the default connection.
